Milford Library is
pleased to host a series conducted by the Yale Science Diplomats. This five part series begins on February 13
at 6:30 pm. It is titled “ Big
Bacteria, Big Pharma, Big Problems.” The
series will continue through May.
Antibiotics are truly a big part of our lives, but it’s
hard to know what they are and how they really affect us. How do they work, and
what parts do they play in medicine, agriculture, and history? Three scientists
will lay out the real roles of antibiotics, including prescriptions and drug
resistance, public health issues, and what big pharmaceuticals and academia are
trying to do with them. Come join us for an insightful evening, no health
insurance necessary!
Yale Science Diplomats are a graduate student
group at Yale University dedicated to science policy and science communication. Via outreach initiatives such as Science
in the News, Science Shorts, and Science @ Bar, they bring
science to the public in exciting and accessible ways, with the goal of
fostering a scientifically informed electorate. In doing so, they also train
scientists on effective communication skills and encourage active participation
and involvement in science policy and the political process.
