Glimpses of Conservation History

The Milford Garden Club is celebrating its 90th Anniversary with this public event.

“Glimpses of Conservation History, Past Lessons and Future Choices” offers a look back at how our European settlement has shaped Milford over the past 377 years.  Some of Milford’s historical records unveil insights to conservation throughout the past few centuries.   Over time, the changes in our land and our wildlife offers a perspective on what Milford is today.  It also offers a chance to consider the choices that we are facing for shaping how Milford will continue to benefit future generations.

This program will be presented by Steve Johnson, Milford’s first Open Space and Natural Resource Agent.   He has held this position since 2013. Johnson also volunteers as a staff liaison for Milford’s Conservation Commission and the Mayor’s Open Space Advisory Committee. He also is a member of the CT. Audubon Regional Advisory Board, the Southwest Conservation District, the Milford Land Conservation Trust, and the Founder’s Walk Advisory Committee. He is a founding member of the Wepawaug River Watershed Alliance. Steve is a CT DEEP Master Wildlife Conservationist and a COVERTS Cooperator.
