Most of us are aware that a
significant number of honeybees are dying, and they are needed to pollinate
many crops. In fact, native pollinators like butterflies, bumblebees, moths,
and beetles are in sharp decline as well. Although the circumstances often seem
insurmountable, each person can make a difference!
The Friends of Milford Library, the Milford
Garden Club, and the Benson-Crump Memorial Gardening Program have teamed up to
host a lecture given by naturalist Jim Sirch.
At Milford Library on September 19 at 6:30, Sirch will be talking about
native gardens – using only native plants to provide a friendly, nurturing
environment for all the native pollinators that we need.
Jim Sirch is the education
coordinator at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, and President of the
Hamden Land Conservation Trust.
This lecture is free and open to the
public. Light refreshments will be
served.
