The Great Music of the Great Depression

The Great Music of the Great Depression

Milford’s One City, One Story initiative invites you to experience the music that provides the “soundtrack” for the lives of The Boys in the Boat.   Rick Spencer will perform folksongs and popular songs from the era. This presentation is a well-researched concert/lecture that will entertain and inform you.   Take a trip back to the 1920’s and 30’s, with music that will be very familiar!   The format will interweave history, musical knowledge, and an entertaining performance.

Spencer has been in the historical performance industry for over 25 years.  He worked for 20 years as a researcher, historian and presenter of traditional maritime songs and sea chanteys at Mystic Seaport, and he has performed widely in the US, in Canada, and in Europe.

This presentation is free and open to the public.   It is brought to you by a generous grant from Connecticut Humanities.
