You’ll feel like you just stepped into a little pub in Ireland when you join Reelin’ Away for an afternoon of traditional Celtic reels, jigs, airs and songs. They’ll be playing at the Milford Public Library on March 11th at 2 pm. If you’re one of those folks who thinks that music only comes into its own when it has a century or so under its belt, then you’ll be sure to enjoy the songs and tunes of Jim and Willow Sirch and Gary Wikfors. Reelin’ Away’s repertoire is an eclectic mix that draws from a combination of instrumental and vocal traditions, including lively Irish jigs and reels, O’Carolan melodies, barn dances, ballads with tight harmonies and a fresh take on old favorites. Learn a bit about the instruments on which this traditional music is played, including fiddle, viola, Irish flutes, whistles, banjo and bodhran.
This
performance is free and open to the public, and is brought to you through the
generosity of the Friends of Milford Library.
