TAX PREPARATION

The Vita Program will be providing free income tax preparations for all ages and low income families January 26 to April 5.  Participants will be required to register beginning  January 7^th by calling 211 or online ucw.211ct.org/tax preparations will take place  at the Milford Senior Center Sundays 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Mondays 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   

                                           AHRENS PROGRAM

The Ahrens Program at the Milford Senior Center provides respite time for caregivers during the day.  The program is designated for individuals with cognitive impairments who may require a supervised environment.  During their stay in the program, members are offered continental breakfast, enjoy various activities, which include arts and crafts, table games, cognitive-fit games, exercise, music and entertainment, trips and other special events.  Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.  Our warm and inviting Ahrens Room is staffed with a staff with 47 years of combined experience and a team of dedicated trained volunteers.  The cost to attend the Ahrens program is $10.00 a day for Milford    residents and $15.00 a day for out-of-town residents. HALOTHERAPY BENEFITS`

The Milford Senior Center is hosting a program, Halotherapy and its benefits for the mind, body and soul. You are invited to attend this discussion at the Milford Senior Center, Thursday, January 9^th at 1:00 p.m. The Center is located at 9 Jepson Drive.203 877-5131 for additional details.

BOARD GAME NIGHT

            The Milford Senior Center is introducing a new activity the second Monday of each month beginning Monday, January 13 at 5:55 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This fun and entertaining evening will take place at the Center 9 Jepson Drive. You may call 203 877-5131 for additional information.

TRAFFIC SAFETY JEOPARDY “GAME” SHOW

            Traffic safety will be enhanced by the Jeopardy Traffic  Safety Program presented by Alec Slatky, Director of Public and Government Affairs, AAA Northeast during a discussion at the Milford Senior Center, Tuesday, January 21^st at 1:00 p.m. at the Milford Senior 9 Jepson Drive.

UNDERSTANDING SLEEP

            There is a program  at the Milford Senior Center Wednesday, January 22nd  at 1:00 p.m. that provides an opportunity to learn why sleep and the quality of it is so important.  This is an interactive program that explores sleep in general and  how it affects many aspects of health. You can  learn how effective  managements of options along with  self-assessment tools  for each participant identifies  areas of sleep improvement.   The program is presented by The Orange Rehabilitation Care Center. HEALTHY COOKING DEMO

A Healthy Cooking Program will be presented at the Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive, Thursday, January 23^rd at 1:00 p.m. A cooking demonstration will provide an opportunity for you to expand your cooking repertoire. During this experience you will learn step-by step how to prepare a delicious and nutritious yet simple meal. MOVIE MATINEE- LAS VEGAS

TRIVIA NIGHT AT THE MILFORD SENIOR CENTER

NATURALLY WELL

Natural Ways to support the immune system will be presented Wednesday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m.  at the Milford Senior Center 9 Jepson Drive. The discussion will be led by Kara Cholewinski, a third year Student Clinician at the University of Bridgeport  School of Naturopathic Medicine. Her presentation will consist of Natural Ways to support the Immune System during the  cold and flu season.

                                                                                    AARP TAX PROGRAM      

AARP  Volunteers will be providing free Tax Preparation Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.at the Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive  from February 5 to April 15.  Participants are required to register by calling  203 877-5131.                

                                                                                                             TECH TIME 

The first and third Thursday of each  month from 10 a.m. to 12, the Milford Senior Center at 9 Jepson Drive, is hosting  an innovative new program, Tech Time. Tech Time affords the opportunity for attendees to suggest topics to assist those who wish to  become tech savvy.                                                                                                      MOBILITY TRAVEL OPTIONS        

The Kennedy Mobile Service (MSD) is providing an informational program and tools to assist seniors, veterans and people with disabilities that can aid hem to navigate the public transportation system  thereby maintaining or increasing their independence. The Regional Mobility Manager will be at the Milford Senior Center  9 Jepson Drive, to discuss available options on Monday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. 203 877-5131 for additional details on this program.

Game Nights at the Milford Senior Center welcomes members to Society 55 a new club  that meets the  second and fourth Mondays of the month  from 5:55 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Society 55 offers Trivia Night and Board game Night, Mix and Mingles, Networking Events, Guest Speakers, Workshops and Fitness.                                                                                       COMMUNICATE WITH TODAY’S GRANDKIDS

The Milford Senior Center is hosting a program that will help you communicate with today’s grandkids.  On Tuesday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. there is an opportunity to understand the “language” of today’s  Toddlers to Teens.  Their acronyms, social media platforms, and tangible tips on grand-parenting in the age of vaping to internet bullying to student debt. This program is presented by  Lia Jill Levitt M.S.                                                                                                      VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY

The Milford Senior Center is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a party  on Friday, February 14 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. DJ Chuck will provide the music.  Tickets are $5.00 and are on sale at the front office until February 11^th.. The Center is located at 9 Jepson Drive. 203 877-5131

                                                                                                                MIND FIT

The Milford Senior Center will be providing a presentation on how to keep your mind sharper and longer, Thursday, February 20^th at 1:00 p.m.  During  session #6 of this sixth session series, the focus will be on the Visual- Spatial domain.  Visual-Spatial processing is involved in most physical interactions with the environment. A loss in this ability can result in higher risks of a fall, since seeing a step or slope becomes harder. The Center is located at 9 Jepson Drive.                                                                                                     GET A CLUE AND PREVENT THE FLU

The Milford Senior Center at 9 Jepson Drive will help you get a clue and prevent the flu Tuesday, February 25^th at 1:00 p.m.  Registered Dietitian Courtney Huggins from the local Shop Rite will be discussing measures that will guide you through making nutritious soup and various preventative measures that will assist you in kicking cold and flu germs away.                                                                                           SMART SOLUTIONS FOR CLEANER INDOOR AIR

On Thursday February 27,  at 1:00 p.m. the Milford Senior Center is hosting a discussion on smart solutions for cleaner, indoor air. This is an opportunity to discover the various items that make your home energy efficient can also cause containments that affect  indoor air quality.  During this program you will discover the EPA warnings and advisories, various types of containments, illnesses they can cause and solutions to eliminate them.  The presentation of this program is by Ed Tworkowski,  Healthy Home Consultant for the AERUS LLC Company. 203 877-5131 The Milford Senior Center is located at 9 Jepson Drive.
