Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk

Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk
Come on a scarily good 90-minute Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk, where you’ll be enthralled and entertained with stories about the distraught Paugusset Indian who, 400 years ago, strangled and killed her two young sons; the three deadly curses cast on Charles Island; why almost-300-year-old Capt. Stephen Stow has never left his home; the accused Colonial witch buried in Milford Cemetery; and so many more. Blending the macabre with known history, this spirited, lantern-lit walk follows a roughly 1.15-mile loop through downtown Milford, including stops at some of the city's oldest homes and Milford Cemetery. Participants who desire also get the chance to try out paranormal investigation tools like EMF detectors and dowsing rods. Cost for advance tickets is $18 per person. Walk-up ticket price is $23 per person, paid in EXACT CASH only. Children 4 and under are free. Fisher Cats - Our Native Weasels

We are seeing (and hearing) more and more fishers (sometimes called fisher cats) in our area. The fisher is a small, carnivorous mammal native to North America. The fisher is closely related to, but larger than the American marten.

Fishers eat mice, porcupines, squirrels, rabbits, birds, and shrews, and sometimes, other carnivores. Fishers have few predators besides humans. They have been trapped since the 18th century for their fur.

Naturalist Richard Taylor will introduce us to the world of the fisher, its life cycle, preferred living quarters, and much more. Richard Taylor is a retired Human Resources executive who formerly worked for General Dynamics. He has had an interest in wildlife his entire life, and since his retirement he has completed Connecticut’s Master Wildlife Conservationist program. He is now actively volunteering and presenting programs on wildlife to libraries and other nonprofit organizations.
