Walnut Beach Farmers Market held from 4-7 pm on the third Thursday of every month.  Follow us on Facebook at Walnut Beach Farmers' Market and see the different exciting and inviting monthly themes for our shoppers and vendors.  This month is Scout out Our Market!

We have 2 Farms, River Crest and Massaro, that come with their plants and produce plus 16 other vendors.  There's live music and games and fun for the kids and everyone! Hatter and Tatter face painting and crafts at every market.  Along with teas, seafood, pet products, jewelry, fresh  lamb, and seafood. 

The market also has local food trucks with their delicious desserts and pizza(Silver Sands Pizza).

We have so much beer, music, food & fun this year that we had to expand it to two days!  Come join us for Happy Hour on Friday, Sept 21, 2018 at 5:00 pm as we kick off the weekend, and join in at 6:00 pm for the official “Tapping of the Keg!”  There's plenty of music all weekend long with the RumRunners, Alpaca Gnomes, The Blue Collar Band, The Elwoods, and of course, what would an Oktoberfest be without and Oompa band & dancers!

Milford Arts Council Announces Big Fundraising Fun!
Milford, CT (August 25, 2018) Milford Arts Council has revealed its plans for the second year of a creative new fundraiser that the entire community will enjoy. The Great MAC Photo/Video Scavenger Hunt has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 22, 4-8pm with 6 big prizes for the lucky teams that complete a series of “photo and video tasks” around Milford.
Each team will receive a list of creative photos to take around town, striving to complete as many tasks as possible for a chance to win prizes such as a Long Island Sound sailing adventure or a Firepit package complete with the ingredients for s’mores. In order to be counted, each photo must show the requested photo or video task with all team members in the photo. They will be posted on social media all day and into the week. They will also be sent to primary sponsor, Atomic Kid Studios who will compile them in a presentation to be shown at the after-party on the walls of the Firehouse Gallery.

Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk
Come on a scarily good 90-minute Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk, where you’ll be enthralled and entertained with stories about the distraught Paugusset Indian who, 400 years ago, strangled and killed her two young sons; the three deadly curses cast on Charles Island; why almost-300-year-old Capt. Stephen Stow has never left his home; the accused Colonial witch buried in Milford Cemetery; and so many more. Blending the macabre with known history, this spirited, lantern-lit walk follows a roughly 1.15-mile loop through downtown Milford, including stops at some of the city's oldest homes and Milford Cemetery. Participants who desire also get the chance to try out paranormal investigation tools like EMF detectors and dowsing rods. Cost for advance tickets is $18 per person. MILFORD, CT  - September 19, 2018 –The Milford Performance Center is pleased to present Satinwood’s show “Wild Taxi”… The iconic music and story telling of Cat Stevens and Harry Chapin on Saturday, September 22nd at 8pm

SATINWOOD is a unique 5 piece group that serves up the best tunes of the 1970s... This stunning tribute to HARRY CHAPIN and CAT STEVENS features selections from Greatest Stories Live, Tea for the Tillerman, and other legendary works.

The authentic arrangements of unforgettable songs performed by Satinwood featuring fully arranged versions complete with guitar, keyboard, bass, electric guitar, percussion, flute, woodwinds and cello just as you would have seen performed by the originals! Featuring spot on vocals and instrumentals the band is even backed by Chapin's original drummer Howard Fields & the bands founder Paul Motter providing spot-on vocals.

Satinwood’s new show, WILD TAXI, features favorites from two of the best singer songwriters most recognizable songs such as  “Oh Very Young”, “Hard Headed Woman”, “Better Place to Be”, “Cats in the Cradle”, “Circle” and the two iconic songs that make up the name of the show. Cat Stevens’ song Wild world & Harry Chapins’ song Taxi are two of the most recognizable anthems of the 70’s & 80’s. Monarchs, Milkweed and You
Monarch butterflies are on the move to their overwintering grounds in Mexico. Learn all about this miraculous journey and much more, on Sunday, Sept. 23, 1 to 2 p.m., at The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Coastal Center at Milford Point.

The program begins indoors with a discovery talk about the importance of milkweed to the Monarch’s life cycle, the challenges Monarchs face in an ever-changing world and what you can do to help. Then we head outdoors to search for monarchs in our pollinator garden and around the Center grounds, and we’ll tag the ones we find.

The program runs rain or shine at The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Coastal Center in Milford, 1 Milford Point Rd. In the event of inclement weather, alternate indoor activities are planned. It’s appropriate for adults and families with children age 5 and up. No strollers please.

You’re probably hearing the word “transgender” more and more, but do you really know what it’s all about? Here’s your chance to learn.

                On September 25th at 7pm, join Jill Celentano for a comfortable, informal presentation to learn what it means to be transgender. Jill will discuss: the coming out process, the transition process, the acceptance process, and right and wrong questions to ask other transgender people.

                Jill is a 57-year-old transgender woman who transitioned almost three years ago. She will share her personal journey, victories and hardships, and she will be happy to answer questions.

                As always, free and open to all.

Directions- sing 16-32 bars of song in the style of the show. Perform a one-minute monologue.
Dance-prepare a dance piece to show your style of dance in jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap or hip hop.

THE CHARACTERS
Ren McCormack
Ren is seen as a young rebel always getting into trouble, but at heart he is an energetic young man who is
dealing with the pain of his father’s absence. He emotes this pain through his quirky sarcasm and by dancing.
Reverend Shaw Moore
Reverend Moore is the most powerful figure in Beaumont. He is a stern, strict, solemn man with a booming
voice who runs the town with an iron fist. However he also has a tender side and is struggling with the loss
of his son.
Ariel Moore
She is the preacher’s daughter. At first glimpse it would appear that she is the perfect girl; beautiful, perky,
energetic. But look closer and you will find that she is her father’s worst nightmare. She is energetic, strong
willed, sharp tongued, and aware of her sensuality.
Vi Moore
The strong-willed preacher’s wife who holds the moral fiber of Beaumont in her upright stance. She feels she
is losing her husband and daughter and doesn’t know what to do. She ultimately is responsible for holding
her family together after its terrible loss.
Rusty
Ariel’s friend. Comedic. A bit of a ditz but knows everything about everybody.
Willard Hewitt
A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big crush. He quickly befriends Ren and shows him the
rules and regulations of living in Beaumont.
Ethel McCormack
Ren’s mother. She is a strong willed, outspoken single parent who would do anything for her son.
Chuck Cranston
A motorcycle riding, foul mouthed, leather wearing, trailer park product who takes one look at Ren and
realizes that there’s only room for one bad boy in this town. He is dating the one girl that Ren obviously has a
crush on, Ariel.
Urleen
Ariel’s friend. The smart one of the group.
Wendy Jo
Ariel’s friend. Doesn’t say much but sure knows a lot about Beaumont and the town rules.
Lyle, Travis
Chuck’s friends.
Bickle, Garvin
Willard’s country friends.
Various townspeople, parents and teenagers. You will play the same character throughout the play EXCEPT for the
opening of Act Two, when you will be the patrons of a country-western bar outside of town.
