The Milford Bar Association cordially invites interested members of the Public to attend a Free Legal Informational Clinic to be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Program Room at the Milford Public Library located at 57 New Haven Avenue, Milford, CT (onsite parking behind Library). Participants can meet with a member of the Milford Bar Assn. for up to (15) minutes to discuss general legal information of one's choice. Depending on your legal requirements, you may be provided with referrals to legal services, other agencies, a private attorney, or a useful legal website should you wish to do your own personal research.  Free Legal Pamphlets will also be available for a limited number of legal topics. Interested parties are asked to contact Attorney Walter Sawicki at (203) 647 2009 to schedule a time slot or you may attend on a walk-in basis. In celebration of the 51st Anniversary of Law Day on May 1, 2018, the Milford Bar Association in recognition of the ideas of equality and justice for all invites the Public to attend a free legal informational clinic to be held on Saturday May 5 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Program Room at the Milford Library. 

            Participants can meet with a member of the Milford Bar Association from 15-20 minutes and discuss general legal information of one’s choice, and thereafter be provided with referrals to legal services, other agencies, a private attorney, or a useful legal website, should you wish to do your own personal research. Legal pamphlets will also be available for a limited number of legal topics. Interested parties are asked to contact Attorney Walter Sawicki at (203) 647-2009 to schedule a time slot or you may attend on a walk –in basis. On behalf of the Milford Bar Association, our current President, Erica Wikstrom, welcomes your participation.

Milford Public Library will partner with the Goodwill Career Center in presenting a

Job Searching and Networking workshop on Wednesday May 9 from 2 pm to 4 pm. 

Devon Kiddoo, a career specialist, will present tips on locating your next job as well as helping you create a plan to develop the skills you need to make valuable connections with people who can advance your career.

            Kiddoo will help you find the best job matches for your skill set. You will learn how to utilize various job boards and top job websites to find the job best for you. The program is held in the Milford Library Program Room. All are welcome to attend. You may register by calling the Reference desk at (203) 783-3292.

Preserving Your Garden Harvest

 

On May 9 at 6:30 pm, Milford Public Library and The Benson-Crump Community Gardens Program host “Preserving Your Garden Harvest – All Year Long” with Rachel Ziesk, Certified Advanced Master Gardener and Lecturer. Preserving your harvest doesn’t just happen in the fall. It’s a 12 month event. This lecture will help you to learn all different ways to preserve such canning, pickling, dehydrating, air drying, freezing, and fermentation. From spring peas, to summer zucchini and kale and fall tomatoes and herbs, you can enjoy the fresh flavors from your garden all year long.

Be A Host Family

The Milford Senior Center at 9 Jepson Drive is presenting a "Be A Host Family" Thursday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m.  Here is an opportunity to discover a new culture and share what you love about our country with a foreign student. AIEP (Apex International Education Partners) matches high school students from China with caring local host families.  The students will attend local private high schools.  Host families earn $1,000 monthly per student.  Marie Dallas, an AIEP host mother for two years, will share her experience and the benefits she has enjoyed.  Come learn if you or your sons's/daughter's family would qualify as a host family.  Visit www.aiepuse.com for additional information. Come on a scarily good 90-minute Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk, where you’ll be enthralled and entertained with stories about the distraught Paugusset Indian who, 400 years ago, strangled and killed her two young sons; the three deadly curses cast on Charles Island; why almost-300-year-old Capt. Stephen Stow has never left his home; the accused Colonial witch buried in Milford Cemetery; and so many more. Blending the macabre with known history, this spirited, lantern-lit walk follows a roughly 1.15-mile loop through downtown Milford, including stops at some of the city's oldest homes and Milford Cemetery.
