Over 400,000 Connecticut residents struggle with hunger; more than 127,000 children are food insecure. These are people from all walks of life – children, working parents, seniors or people living with disabilities. They are your neighbors and they need our help. 

We hope that you will join us on Sunday, April 29 at Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven. Registration will open at 1pm and the walk will kick off at 2pm. There will be food, crafts, music, games and activities for all. There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum to join the fun! Bring family, friends and even the family dog.

 Every Tuesday there's a free movie at Milford Library!  Free popcorn, too!

The movies in May were all directed by Steven Spielberg. 

Milford Public Library, Milford Speaks Out, and the CT Chapter of the National Organization of Women present a free screening of the award-winning documentary Equal Means Equal, followed by a panel discussion, on May 1 at 6:30 pm at Milford Public Library. Join feminists who fought for the ERA in the 1970s and '80s, followed by a panel discussion that will explore the 40-year fight to make the Equal Rights Amendment part of the U.S. Constitution. The film offers an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today. Examining both real-life stories and precedent-setting legal cases, director Kamala Lopez uncovers how outdated and discriminatory attitudes inform and influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system. Along the way, she reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment – an action at the very top of national and CT NOW’s priorities lists. Please join us for this very powerful film and to hear from the women who have been fighting for the ERA for decades! Popcorn, water, coffee and other snacks.   All are welcome.

In celebration of the 51^st Anniversary of Law Day on May 1, 2018, the Milford Bar Association in recognition of the ideas of equality and justice for all invites the Public to attend a free legal informational clinic to be held on Saturday May 5 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Program Room at the Milford Library. 

            Participants can meet with a member of the Milford Bar Association from 15-20 minutes and discuss general legal information of one’s choice, and thereafter be provided with referrals to legal services, other agencies, a private attorney, or a useful legal website, should you wish to do your own personal research. Legal pamphlets will also be available for a limited number of legal topics. Interested parties are asked to contact Attorney Walter Sawicki at (203) 647-2009 to schedule a time slot or you may attend on a walk –in basis. On behalf of the Milford Bar Association, our current President, Erica Wikstrom, welcomes your participation.
