Seven-time all-Ireland champion John Whelan is one of the world’s best living Irish button accordion players. This year he celebrates 50 years of performing Irish music. Along with his All-Ireland Championships, he was twice awarded musician of the year from the Irish Music Association. A former Milford resident, John has returned for a special concert. Here is a great and rare chance to see John again in Connecticut in an intimate concert setting!
Joining John will be Dylan Foley, one of the great fiddle players of our time, an All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, delighting audiences from Lincoln Center to Irish Television channels RTE and TG4. Amember of The Yanks, the hot trad band that has been called” the next Irish American dream team”, Dylan is committed to passing on the tradition, as it was graciously passed to him, by the incomparable Rose Flanagan and others. Dylan released a solo CD last year called Deliriously Happy to high acclaim.
A stylistically diverse guitar player and instructor who specializes in accompaniment of traditional Irish and Scottish fiddle playing, Conor Hearn has performed on programs like Brian O'Donovan's Celtic Sojourn. His work as a songwriter combines elements of traditional folk songs and literature, and DuJour magazine describes his singing as “flawlessly rugged.” Conor has performed with renowned fiddle icons like Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas and folk legends like Keith Murphy.
