Traditional Musicians Adam Agee and Jon Sousa at IHSM

Adam Agee and Jon Sousa

Irish Traditional Musicians from Colorado

Friday, February 1, 2019, 7 pm, IHSM Clubhouse

131 Bridgeport Ave, Milford, CT

Admission: $5

This fiddler and guitarist from Colorado are creating waves across the States and beyond. Not only do they play the music of the Auld Country with sensitivity and soul, they also bring their own brand of modernism to the Irish tradition.”
—Irish Music Magazine

“Adam’s music has been familiar to me for many years… I’ve never heard him play a note that wasn’t sincere and from the heart. His music is true and free from pretense. He constantly seeks the deepest expression of the music.”
—Martin Hayes

Adam Agee & Jon Sousa began playing together in Boulder, Colorado in 2005 and moved to Ennis, County Clare, Ireland in 2008. They now tour in the United States and internationally. As educators, Adam & Jon teach Irish tunes and technique at music camps, festivals, and international schools across the world.

Through opportunities in America and Ireland, Adam has studied fiddle with many of today's living tradition-bearers. He has been teaching and performing for more than 20 years.

Jon’s passion for Irish traditional music has taken him all over the world and eventually to reside in Ireland in 2008. There he refined his skills in interpreting Irish music while earning his Master of Arts degree in Traditional Irish Music Performance at the University of Limerick.

Milford Alive Recognitions - "Still Kicking" Awards

Milford Alive Recognitions - "Still Kicking" Awards

Milford Alive! was formed to celebrate, educate, and support local business.

It’s our belief that small local businesses don’t get enough recognition, and in many cases get no recognition. We aim to change that!

For February we present the “Still Kicking” Awards. The premise is this: Just because a business is past the  “Over the Hump” stage, it doesn’t mean that they are out of the woods!  Companies still need every advantage they can get! What better way to get the word out than to celebrate the hardworking, successful business owners who are “Still Kicking!” Congratulations are in order!

The award criteria are as follows:

1. Business should should be at least fifteen but not more than twenty-five years old.

2. Be a Milford-based business. Having locations outside Milford is okay but the business’ primary operating location should be Milford.  Its also acceptable if your business is located in a neighboring town, but you do the bulk of your business in Milford.

This recognition is provided through a partnership with Milford Alive! and Milford Economic & Community Development. Honorable Mayor Benjamin G Blake will be handing out the awards.

Awardees are encouraged to bring a guest. Guests could be a mentor, supporter, or the owner of a business inspired or helped out in some significant way.  These events are open to the public and any lover and supporter of local business may attend and celebrate with us!

Food is provided for the awardees and their guests by Joey and Ania Catalano, owners of Joey C’s Restaurants. Joey C’s Roadhouse and Joey C’s Boathouse

Special thanks to the following businesses for their support of the Milford Alive! effort:

Arthur Radtke, More Prospects Now
Julie Nash, Milford Economic & Community Development
Greater Milford BNI
David DeRubeis, Cody-White Funeral Home
