Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk

Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk
Come on a scarily good 90-minute Spirits of Milford Ghost Walk, where you’ll be enthralled and entertained with stories about the distraught Paugusset Indian who, 400 years ago, strangled and killed her two young sons; the three deadly curses cast on Charles Island; why almost-300-year-old Capt. Stephen Stow has never left his home; the accused Colonial witch buried in Milford Cemetery; and so many more. Blending the macabre with known history, this spirited, lantern-lit walk follows a roughly 1.15-mile loop through downtown Milford, including stops at some of the city's oldest homes and Milford Cemetery. Participants who desire also get the chance to try out paranormal investigation tools like EMF detectors and dowsing rods. Cost for advance tickets is $18 per person. Walk-up ticket price is $23 per person, paid in EXACT CASH only. Children 4 and under are free. Prelude to a Kiss, by Craig Lucas, is a mystical love triangle. Directed by Ann Baker, it tells the story of a young couple who meet, fall in love and marry within the first couple of acts. After their wedding, they are approached by an odd old man who asks for a kiss from the bride... They switch souls and... Well you'll just have to come to the MAC to find out!

Testing Circuits Using a Multimeter

 

Milford Public Library is presenting a demonstration of the proper use of a multimeter to test circuits for continuity, voltage, and resistance on Saturday, September 29th from 2:30-3:00 pm. Multimeters are useful for any kind of electronics work, or if you’re thinking about doing electrical work in your home such as replacing receptacles or installing ceiling fans. National Blind Awareness Month

This is a month long awareness and not an event.  It is National Blind Awareness Month throughout October.  

People are uncomfortable and unsure what to do around/for blind and visually impaired people.  Publicizing NBAM allows the opportunity to inform Connecticut drivers about CT state law requiring drivers to reduce stop in yielding right-of-way to blind pedestrians with guide dog or white cane (specifics, of course in CGS Sec 14-300 and Sec. 14-300i. This applies to anywhere along a public way and isn't regulated to crosswalk or intersection.

Understanding the New Tax Law

 

Milford Public Library in collaboration with Rebecca Miller and The Financial Awareness Foundation will present a workshop on the important changes to the new tax laws

on Tuesday October 2 at 7 pm..

            She will discuss changes in future tax brackets, modified deductions and credits, and how they may limit or eliminate your Schedule A deductions, including mortgage interest, charitable contributions and medical expenses. She will also address limitations to state and local taxes as well as changes to the estate tax.

            Join Rebecca Miller in learning how the new laws affect you! The workshop is free and open to all.

Korean Cooking Demonstration

 

The Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project will be at Milford Library on October 6 at 11am for a cooking demonstration that will feature some of the most loved dishes in Korean cuisine. This demonstration will feature bulgogi (beef marinated in soy sauce), bibimbap (rice and vegetables), kimchi salad, and dubu jorim (pan fried tofu).

Short videos about Korea will be shown, and Koreans in native dress will be preparing and serving a delicious lunch.
