On September 15 at 3pm, Milford Library, 57 New Haven Ave., welcomes one of New England’s premier balladeers, Dan Ringrose. Ringrose will be performing all your favorite Irish tunes – a taste of the Irish Festival before it starts!   He has performed professionally throughout the Northeast and beyond for the last 30 years. With appearances on statewide and public television, his career has also taken him from Gettysburg to Nashville and across the pond to the Emerald Isle. Raised on the music of Irish folk legends The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, Ringrose has performed with many other notable names in the Irish music world, including The Wolfe Tones, The Dublin City Ramblers, Paddy Reilly, as well as funnymen Hal Roach and Brendan Grace.

In 2005 he was tapped by friend and folk legend Tommy Makem as sideman/accompanist for the Great American Irish Festival in Frankfort, New York. It was the first of many shows they would perform together.

All are welcome to this free performance.   It is suggested that attendees park at Lisman Landing.   Parking will be limited at the Library.

Join Folks on Spokes to raise awareness and funds and show support for people on their road to recovery from the challenges of a mental illness or addiction.  Come out for the exercise, fun with friends and family and the pleasure of doing something good  for your community!  Folks on Spokes offers a unique opportunity for novice, seasoned and professional cyclists, to join together to promote mental wellness!

Cyclists of all levels enjoy the scenic, mapped routes around the Connecticut shoreline. Distances are  20, 40, 50 & 66-mile (Metric Century) or a 5 or 10 Mile Family Fun Ride.

There are six rest stops along the route offer water, fruit and snack bars. Restroom facilities are also available at points along the ride. Return to Fowler Field and relax with lunch, awards and entertainment.

               The annual Senior Health Day will take place at the Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive, Monday, September 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to receive health screenings, preventative information, a cooking demo and a guest speaker on Cataract Surgery.  Several of the screenings require pre-registration.  Please call Program Director Amanda Berry at 203 877-5131 for this information.
