11th Annual Golf Tournament-Orange Economic Development

This year we are partnering with Rotary Club of Orange and are donating a portion of our proceeds to their Youth Services Program, consisting of Orange Scholarships and the Amber Alert Program.

The 46th Annual Antique Fire Apparatus Show and Muster

Engine 260 will host the 46th Annual Engine 260 Antique Fire Apparatus Show & Muster. 10 AM – 5 PM at Eisenhower Park located off Route 121 (North Street).

Activities include a motorcade of more than 50 fire apparatus that will travel from the Liberty Rock Shopping Plaza, 589 Bridgeport Avenue, to Meadowside Road, thru Milford Center onto North Street, ending at Eisenhower Park. The motorcade will begin at 9:00 am and arrive at approximately 9:45 am at the park. 

Children can be a “Firefighter for the Day” – put on a helmet and handle a real fire hose! An interactive Fire Prevention trailer from the West haven Fire Department will be on site and firefighters will teach children about smoke alarms and how to get out of a smoke filled home.

Fire Apparatus & Firefighter Teams will be competing against each other showing off their skills and battling for the first place trophy in 8 different competitions. Come join us at our family oriented event, at the longest standing annual event in the City of Milford!

Admission to the general public is Free.

 

Proceeds from our refreshment area will be donated to the Milford Recreation Department program for Children with Special Needs – “Camp Happiness”.

This year’s feature truck that will lead the parade is 1925 American LaFrance Owned & Operated by West Ridge Volunteer Fire Association North Haven, CT

Please join the Milford Garden Club for our September 12 program.  Our speaker, Ronnie Schoelzel, will discuss and demonstrate how to grow, prepare, enter and transport cut and container grown horticulture specimens for a flower show.  She will relate her talk to the National Garden Club Handbook for Flower Shows. Ronnie is a past president of the Federated Garden Club of Connecticut. The Medicare Maze

Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave. in Milford,  will present a free educational seminar on Tuesday September 12 at 7 PM on Medicare. Trish Pearson, an independent agent, will review the various parts of Medicare: A,B,C, and D and provide step by step guidance on the enrollment process.

            Whether you are new to Medicare or a current enrollee, there will be information that is relevant to your situation. The presentation will include an update on changes mandated by CMS and a look at how potential changes in the Affordable Care Act could impact Medicare recipients. 

            She will also provide some key points to consider when choosing a senior health insurance plan. This is the time to change plans, review current benefits. Open enrollment is:

October 15 – December 7. If you are turning 65 in 2017, now is the time to learn about your options and the enrollment process.

            Trish Pearson is the principal at Trish Pearson Insurance Services, LLC and has been working with seniors helping them with their insurance needs for 15 years. She is licensed and works with all major insurance carriers.
