Conscious Discipline: Going beyond "Use Your Words"
Kids Count of Milford invites you to attend a two day workshop. Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor Beth Anspach will be presenting. The cost is $40 for the two sessions, March 4th and April 1st. Reliance on praise, punishment and vague phrases like "use your words", "walking fee" leaves teachers and parents alike feeling unsuccessful in truly helping the children in their care become disciplined. Parents and teachers are doing the best we know how, but it often feels as if we are crossing our fingers and simply hoping the children in our care develop healthy self-control, self-discipline and self-esteem. Participants will learn how to understand our beliefs about power impact our discipline methods, learn what research says about the effects of praise on children of all ages, realize what adult's word choices communicate to children about what they value and how the world works, learn to be firm and fair without fear or guilt, discover a few helpful, easy to impllement, skills that will allow children to become more self-aware, gain confidence and be motivated to cooperate and practice a step-by-step process to setting limits, offering choices and responding to the child who is in an uncooperative state. To reserve
a spot, email pkelly@milforded.org. Continental Breakfast and Box Lunch included. Mail a check payable to Kids Count of Milford for each person attending and mail to Margaret E. Kelly, Kids Count of Milford, 167 Cherry Street, PMB 169, Milford, CT 06460... More >><< Less
